Privacy Policy: Pain Tracker

Pain Tracker (“the app”) is a personal pain diary for Android, published by Altug Ataalp (“we”, “us”).
This policy explains what the app records, where it is kept, and what — if anything — ever leaves your phone.
The short version
We never receive your health data. We cannot.
The app has no internet permission. It is technically incapable of sending your diary anywhere: there is no account to sign into, no server behind it, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code that reports on how you use it. Everything you record stays in the app’s private storage on your device unless you choose to export or share it.
What the app records
Only what you type into it:
- Pain entries — the date and hour, a pain level from 0 to 10, an optional note, and any pain qualities you select (throbbing, stabbing, burning, and so on).
- Triggers and context — free-text tags you attach to entries or days, such as “stress” or “poor sleep”.
- Medications — the name, an optional dosage, and any daily reminder times you set.
- Medication intakes — which medication you took and when.
- Appointments — a title, an optional doctor or practice, the date and time, and the reminder lead time.
- Significant events — a short note about what happened on a given day.
- Pain actions — what you have written down to do at each pain level.
- Activities — healthy-living habits you want reminding about, and their reminder schedule.
- Settings — your chosen language, theme, PDF layout, export preferences, and whether the app lock is on.
The app does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or any device identifier. It does not track how you use it.
Where it is kept
In the app’s private storage on your device — a database and a small settings file that other apps cannot read. If you turn on the app lock, opening the app also requires your fingerprint, face, or screen lock. That check is performed by Android; the app never sees your fingerprint or face data.
What leaves your device
Nothing is sent to us, ever. There are exactly three ways data can leave the device, and you control all three:
1. Exports you share
When you export a PDF or CSV report, or a backup file, the app writes it and hands it to Android’s share sheet or file picker so you can choose where it goes — email, a messaging app, your cloud drive, your doctor. Once you have shared a file, it is governed by whatever service you sent it to, not by this policy. We never see it.
2. Android’s backup
- Your diary is excluded from Google cloud backup. The pain entries, medications, intakes and appointments are not uploaded to Google Drive.
- Your settings are included in Google’s standard app backup — the theme, language, PDF layout and app-lock preference. These contain no health information.
- Direct phone-to-phone transfer does include your diary, so that switching to a new device during setup carries your history across. That transfer goes straight from one device to the other.
Android’s backup is provided by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy, not by us. On Android 9 and later it is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your device’s PIN, pattern or password.
3. Links you tap
The app contains one link: the button in Options that opens this policy. Tapping it hands the address to your browser, which loads the page. The app itself makes no network connection — it holds no internet permission and cannot — and it attaches nothing to the link: no identifier, no information about you, nothing from your diary.
As with any page you open in a browser, the server hosting this document receives an ordinary web request from you, which includes your IP address. That is between your browser and that server; the app plays no part in it and we learn nothing from it.
Permissions and why the app asks

| Biometrics | Only if you switch on the app lock, to verify it is you. The app receives a yes or no, nothing more. |
The app does not request internet access, location, contacts, camera, microphone, or storage outside its own private folder.
How to delete your data
- In the app: Options → Delete all data. This erases every entry, trigger, medication, intake, appointment, significant event, pain action and activity on the device, and cancels their reminders. It cannot be undone.
- Uninstalling the app also removes its database and settings from the device.
Files you have already exported and shared elsewhere are outside the app’s reach — delete those wherever you sent them.
Your rights
Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to look up, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You hold all of it directly:
- Access and portability — Options → Backup → Export data writes everything to a file you keep.
- Erasure — Options → Delete all data, or uninstall the app.
- Correction — every entry can be edited or deleted in the app.
If you are in the EU or UK: since your health data never reaches us, we do not act as a controller of it. Any data protection request you might otherwise send us can be satisfied by you, in the app, immediately.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them. It has no sign-up, so we hold no information about any user, of any age.
Medical disclaimer
Pain Tracker is a diary. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice, and it is not a medical device. Nothing it shows — including trends and insights — is a clinical judgement. Always speak to a qualified healthcare professional about your symptoms and your medication.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date at the top will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
