Einbürgerungstest & LiD is an Android app for preparing for the German naturalisation test (Einbürgerungstest) and the “Leben in Deutschland” test. It holds the complete official question catalogue, 300 general questions and the 10 questions of your federal state, with a practice mode that reveals every answer at once and a test under exam conditions. It works entirely offline.
The interface is available in ten languages. The questions, the answers and the explanations stay in German, because the exam is held in German.
The questions and images are published by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). This app is independent and is not officially affiliated with the German government.

Frequently asked questions
More questions in the manual ↗Is the app free, and which Android versions does it support?
Yes. All 310 questions with their pictures, practice mode and the test under exam conditions are free and without advertising. Pro is an optional one-off purchase that adds comfort features. The app runs on Android 8.0 or later.
See what is free and what Pro adds.
Are these the real exam questions?
Yes. The app contains BAMF's official complete question catalogue, unchanged: 300 general questions and 10 questions per federal state. The exam draws its 33 questions from exactly this catalogue.
BAMF updates the catalogue from time to time, and the app follows with an update; your progress survives it. How recent the catalogue in the app is stands under Settings → About the questions. Read about the catalogue version.
How do the questions of my federal state work?
Every federal state has 10 questions of its own, and 3 of them appear in the test. You choose your state when you first open the app and get its questions in practice mode and in the test.
If you move, set the new state under Settings → Federal state. Your progress on the general questions stays as it is, and your progress on the old state is kept in case you switch back. Read about changing the federal state.
Does the app also cover the “Leben in Deutschland” test?
Yes. The test at the end of the integration course uses the same catalogue and the same format. The result of a test in the app names both thresholds: 17 correct answers for naturalisation and 15 for “Leben in Deutschland”.
Why are the questions in German although I chose another language?
Because the exam is held in German. The language you choose switches the interface only: buttons, hints and settings. Questions, answers and explanations stay German, so that you recognise them on the day of the exam.
Read about the language setting.
How does a test in the app work?
Tap Start test on Home: 33 questions, 60 minutes, passed with 17 correct answers. You can skip questions, come back to them and change any answer while the test is running. A question without an answer counts as wrong, as it does in the exam. If you leave the app, the test is kept, but the clock keeps running.
Follow the test guide.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Questions, pictures and explanations are inside the app; practising and testing work in airplane mode. Only buying and restoring Pro need a connection.
What data does the app collect?
None. There is no account, no advertising and no usage analytics. Your progress, bookmarks, notes and tests are on your device only.
Read the privacy policy for the full details.
Will my progress survive a new phone or an update?
An update keeps your progress, also when it brings a new question catalogue. For a new phone: if Android's automatic backup was switched on on the old phone, Android carries your progress over when you set up the new one. That is done by your phone, not by the app; the app has no account through which data could be synchronised.
What does Pro add, and is it a subscription?
Pro is a one-off purchase, not a subscription, and is valid on every device with the same Google account. It adds an explanation for every question, adaptive practice, repeating your mistakes, detailed statistics with an exam forecast, wrong answers as a PDF, unlimited bookmarks and your own notes, advancing automatically and the question search.
See the full list of Pro features.
I bought Pro, but the app does not show it.
Go to Settings → Restore purchase, and make sure you are signed in to the Play Store with the account you bought with.
Read about restoring a purchase.
Is this an official app?
No. The questions and images are published by BAMF, but the app is independent and not officially affiliated with the German government. The exam information in the app is compiled with care; it does not replace what your test centre or your naturalisation authority tells you.
